Plant Co-ordinator - Perth

Barrett Burston Malting Company is a supplier of malt to both domestic and export markets, operating a number of grain and malt processing plants across Australia. 

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic person to the position of Plant Coordinator for our Perth plant, reporting to the Plant Manager. 

The Perth plant, located in Welshpool WA, is a continuous operation, with a high degree of computerised control and electronic monitoring.

The main responsibilities of the Plant Coordinator role are:

  • Supervision of employees, maintaining relations and engaging in consultation processes
  • Process control including:
    • In process testing, and
    • Monitoring of plant services
  • Interpretation of grain quality, analysis, record keeping and reporting
  • Quality control and maintenance of and adherence to our ISO Quality System
  • Interface with internal departments and external service providers
  • Coordinate and facilitate production work team requirements
  • Maintenance of Safety and Hygiene program
  • Stock control, grain movements and storage.

There is also a requirement to cover weekend production requirements which necessitates your availability to participate in a weekend roster system and after hour's callout roster.

Experience in the food/grain processing or brewing industry in a technical/mechanical or supervisory environment as well as an understanding of computerised control systems, Management Information systems and reporting would be advantageous. 

Science, Agricultural, Technical or Engineering tertiary qualification would be desirable for this role but not essential.

To be successful it is essential that you must be a good communicator, have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
